Parting

Tears from my aching heart
Flood my soul with sorrow.
I know naught of today
Or even if there is tomorrow.

Tomorrow can hold
no promise
And very little hope.
Memories are our refuge
They keep alive our soul.

For us there is no tomorrow
The future no longer exists.
But the life we had together
Was filled with total bliss.

Let us not be bitter
As our time together ends.
Let us end it as we started,
Not as lovers, but as friends.

Love shall always fill
my heart
With a longing for that that
cannot be.
But the thought that will
live forever-
I loved you and you
loved me.
