And never been punished
When as an infant, thou hast taken from me
My right to have a family, a dream, a reality,
My future, my life, all that I could ever be.
And yet you go unpunished!
As a young child, thou hast stolen from me
My dreams, the possibilities of life,
My hopes, my love and destroyed my family.
Still you are not punished!
While a teen, thou hast taken from me
The foundation I was building for my life,
My world, my existence, all that should be.
Once more, you are unpunished!
As an adult, thou hast stolen from me
The chance to see my children grow,
My talent, that part that is really me.
And yet, you are unpunished!
At my peak, thou hast taken from me
The joy of watching my grandchildren
And their children, grow to be what they will be.
And still you are unpunished!
When I am old, thou hast taken from me
All my joy, my heart and soul,
And through sickness, all my memories.
Yet you are still unpunished!
Death--thou art the Ultimate Thief
And you will never be punished.
For thou art the punisher
And the punishment!
